Catalog Security Add User/Group Dialog Box

On the Catalog Security Add User/Group dialog box, which opens when you click Add User/Group on the Catalog Security view, you assign initial permissions to a user or group for all catalog roles.

First you use the search fields to locate the user or group that you want to add, then select the appropriate permissions from the Assign rights fields for each listed role, and then click Assign Rights .

To assign rights to Microsoft Entra ID users and groups, Make sure that Microsoft Entra ID is configured successfully. Once the configuration is complete, the tenant name will be visible in the drop down, enabling you to proceed with assigning rights.

Under Assign rights , the following roles are listed:

RolePermission
Browse CatalogAllows users to see the catalog hierarchy. If no group is defined, it is visible for all. Add groups to restrict access.
Request on BehalfDetermines whether members can perform “request on behalf” for catalog items enabled for request on behalf. Recommended members: Help Desk / Support Staff.
Manage All RequestsCan View, Create / Modify, or Delete request items under My Requests tab. Grants visibility to the “Show all requests” check box so users can see not only their own requests but all others as well. Recommended members: Help Desk / Support Staff.
Support ToolsGrants access to the Support Tools tab. Recommended members: Help Desk / Support Staff.
ReportingGrants access to the “Reporting” tab. Recommended members: Help Desk / Support Staff / Business Analysts.
New Computer DeploymentGrants access to the “New Computer” button during a request on behalf action. Recommended members: PC Builders.
Request FiltersNot implemented.

Permissions are the “most restrictive model”. For example, if a user is in two groups where one is granted View permission and the other granted Modify permission, the permissions will be View; they are not cumulative.
